MY STORY
Dr. Kathryn Avramakis began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Her path changed course after her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Confronted with the limitations of conventional medicine and a reductionist view of health, she was drawn to a more integrative model of care - one that acknowledged the body, mind, and spirit as an integrated whole. This led her to complete a Bachelor of Health Science in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
Her clinical training extended internationally, with post-graduate studies and hospital-based internships in China and Taiwan. There, she was mentored and trained under esteemed physicians, gaining insight into classical diagnostic methods and treatment approaches grounded in the lineage of traditional medicine.
A major turning point in Kathryn’s life came after a serious car accident left her immobilised and unable to walk for over a year. Advised to undergo spinal surgery with little hope for full recovery, she instead turned to the very medicine she had been studying and practising. Through dedicated application of these principles, she slowly regained her mobility - an experience that deepened her understanding of the body’s innate healing intelligence. This experience profoundly reshaped her clinical lens and remains central to how she meets others in their own pain and recovery.
Years later, Kathryn went on to win 15 titles in figure bodybuilding, including the prestigious Miss Figure Universe in 2006. After a decade-long retirement, she returned to competition and placed runner-up at the World Titles in 2016. Her journey is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the body’s capacity to heal and transform under aligned conditions.
With over 30 years of clinical experience in Acupuncture and Classical Chinese Medicine, Kathryn brings a comprehensive, whole-person approach to care. She also draws on four decades as a Qigong practitioner and teacher, including her background as a professional athlete and strength coach.
Her clinical focus includes trauma-informed care, pain and injury rehabilitation, women’s health, hormonal shifts, and offering the same care to dogs experiencing pain, anxiety, mobility challenges, and age-related care. She also offers support for individuals navigating grief, complex emotional states, and nervous system dysregulation, grounded in the principles of Eastern medicine and somatic integration.
Kathryn’s work is rooted in honesty, depth, and lived experience. Her commitment to truth-based, life-giving medicine continues to evolve, shaped by the clients she has served and learned from over the past three decades.
She believes that Every Body - human or animal alike - can heal when given the right conditions.

FROM ME TO YOU
I created Kataqi Life from my own lived experiences. It evolved through decades of clinical work and my own healing as life unravelled.
With over 30 years of clinical practice and as a former athlete, I've moved through both physical injury and emotional rupture, and I've come to understand this:
Healing doesn't start with fixing.
It starts with listening.
To the signals the body has been holding.
To the strength that doesn't always look like power.
To the truth that often begins in silence.
This isn't about naming or labelling symptoms.
It's not about fitting your experience into a diagnosis or lab tests.
It's about offering care that sees you as whole, without needing to reduce you to a problem to be solved.
My work was shaped by a fractured spine that left me unable to walk, and later by a painful estrangement. It was further shaped by the quiet work of remembering who I was underneath it all.
This work is for women who want more than coping. It's for those ready to return to inner coherence, strength, and to the deeper self that was never broken.
This work also extends to canine health - born from a lifelong love for animals and a deep respect for their unspoken pain. I offer support for dogs using the same Classical Chinese Medicine principles that guide my work with humans.
This is a space where Classical Eastern medicine meets modern neuroscience, with the wisdom of the Soul supporting the body’s ability to regulate, repair, and return to balance.
